QUESTION:  
What is the hottest planet and the hottest star?

ANSWER from Ann Spague on October 24, 1995:
The hottest planet at the surface is Venus most of the time but 
at some times Mercury gets just as hot at the surface.  Venus has an 
atmosphere and holds in the heat day and night but Mercury gets very cold 
at night.

As for stars, Blue stars are the hottest.  Sirius, the Dog star 
is a blue star.  You can see it from Hawaii.
